This page has charts and mixes from That Amazing Thing! residents Mark Haran and Francis Wooff and guest DJs.  The mixes are in mp3 format and hopefully should play on most PCs using Windows Media Player (v7.1 and above) or a similar player and on Macs using iTunes.  If your machine doesn't have one of these they can be downloaded here Windows Media Player or here iTunes .  If you'd like a tracklist or other details of Mark's or Francis' mixes mail them at mark@thatamazingthing.com or francis@thatamazingthing.com.  We don't have such info for our guests' mixes but we could try to find out if you're really desperate for that i.d!

Elisabeth

Warming up to our March 20th party here's a mix from our hostess with the mostest, the lovely Elisabeth Kurtis.
Deceptively mild at first this ends as one heavy jam!

Elisabeth March 10 mix  (47min/45MB)
Humorous samples give way to a lovely 70s chart tune.  On to disco, 80s boogie & house.  :-)  Time to start searching the internet for the tunes on here!

Update!  Oooh, never mind warming up, here is the lady recorded live at that very party!

Loft MCR

A mix based on Francis' set at the lovely Loft MCR party in October 09:
"I often mean to take a recorder to gigs but either forget or take it, then forget to use it.  Which may work out as I'll then try to recreate the set at home where there's less pressure ;-)  In this case I tried in October, after the Loft party, to record a set similar to what I played but couldn't work it out.  With the next party almost upon us, I dragged the recording out to remind myself what the tunes were, shuffled them round a little and came up with this mix which I think is reasonably faithful to what I played, both in terms of record order and nicely rough edged mixing!  There are a few more tunes I had in my box that night tagged on the end to make the mix up to a decent length"

...becomes Level 6!

In another turn up for the books Francis finally does remember to both take the recorder and plug it in at Level 6(the-guys-who-did-the-Loft-Parties)'s lovely Orderly Wayward bash in June.  Having done this he then forgot to take it home, leaving it in that most bizarre location for a few days.  His excitement at the end of a top night might explain both that and the two very lively mixes here!

Francis

A mix based on some of the tunes played at our splendid May 09 party, plus others records which were taken but didn't get an airing.
"People who haven't been to one of our nights often ask what music I play so it's nice to get this down, I've done mixes that reflect the night's broad range of music before but they tend not to be dancefloor oriented in the slow parts, this fits the bill in terms of mixing it up but all being stuff you could shake a leg to.  The records earlier on here I didn't get to play at the party as I had to help with the roadblock on the door, the later tunes are ones I remember did get an outing"

Francis plays records from our May 09 party, pt.1  (80min/90MB)
R&B, jazz, dancehall, 80s pop, dub techno & deep, warm house.
Francis plays records from our May 09 party, pt.2  (80min/92MB)
Disco & straight up house & techno.

A couple of mixes from 2007 gigs showcasing Francis' lively and chilled sides:

Francis plays Feel Surreal at Audio Delicatessen, Sao Paulo, Brazil, Jan 07  (104min/135MB)
Francis spins his favourite classic house and techno cuts - as befits such a hot location!

Francis at Llanfendigaid Estate, Wales, Feb 07, pt.1  (72min/85MB)
Francis at Llanfendigaid Estate, Wales, Feb 07, pt.2  (57min/75MB)
Francis at Llanfendigaid Estate, Wales, Feb 07, pt.3  (62min/75MB)
By contrast music from a chilled afternoon at a weekender on a country estate.  The recording is in 3 parts (it was a long, lazy afternoon), parts 2 and 3 build up to disco (and actually feature mixing!).

Mark

A mix from Mark that's nearly an hour long!  A straight house mix from blissful to techy with no jazz, reggae, hip-hop or soul!  What is the world coming to?
Mark house mix Feb 08  (50min/55MB)

And now an even heavier one; from techy to techy ;-).  What happened?  Is it hanging around with Francis or the water at Whaley Bridge?
Mark tech mix June 08  (63min/73MB)

Actually, it's probably all that time spent in Berghain / Panorama.  Which may mean little can be done as you can't keep him out of there.  Here's a short one from before he clocked up quite as many hours as a reminder:

Live togetherness!

The boys recorded at Electiks' lovely Nish Nash Nosh evening at Mint Lounge on Saturday 7th of June 2008 playing laid back grooves (sorry, we decided not to include the outbreak of dubstep from that session in this clip ;-)
