That Amazing Thing! takes its roots from all the best house parties we’ve ever been to.  Formed in 2000 around the nucleus of Manchester DJs Mark Haran and Francis Wooff and their friends it grew from house and cellar happenings across the city to become a club night with the intimacy and atmosphere of a house party.

Evolving through various guises That Amazing Thing! has been a Sunday evening session, a series of quarterly events and a monthly Saturday club night, however we found regular scheduling and operating on a commercial basis led toward compromises.  So the night's current form came into being - a range of formats as diverse as the music played there and the people who go.  Abandoning safety for freshness and spontaneity That Amazing Thing! takes place in various hidden underground spaces around Manchester and in other odd surroundings: from boats to micro festivals in the countryside involving camping and village halls.  These parties have free admission where possible or kept at cost where not, news of them is spread via word of mouth, through personal invites, by our mailing list and this website.  Our aim is to have fun whilst bringing cutting edge music to the dance-floor - from techno to hip hop, afrobeat to soul music, future sounds to classics, everything goes into the mix to create the warm, special vibe that has developed round the night.

At That Amazing Thing! we share the music we love with the open minded and friendly crowd who come along to our nights of high spirits, intimacy and crazy fun.

Now we are 10!

Who'd have thunk it?  Ten years strong.  When we think back to.....  Actually let's just forget about that, when think about what went on in those days we realise it's probably best not to tell anyone else ;-)

What's important is that for a decade we've occupied some unusual position on the Manchester clubbing scene, bit players yet with some kind of significance, not for a moment claiming to be particular forward or original thinkers, yet somehow managing to luck into being ahead of the curve of the present popularity of irregular nights at rotating venues after we decided to sack off our monthly and start doing that in 2002.  Since then it's been 8 years of basements and barges, mirror balls and village halls, lofts and lasers and above all night after night we've been blessed with the loveliest crowd anyone could ever want.

So here we are 10 years in and looking forward to another 10, still on it, still involved.

Of course those are easy words to write, especially when our events are so and far between ;-)  For the last couple of this years this bit covering our current status has been jokily themed about how we are Manchester's rarest but best loved night, we actually believe this is true, people do absolutely love our night, but we've only done about 4 events for each of the past few years!  Keep an eye on our news page because you know when one of our parties does come along you'd better not miss it.
